Cathy Wu is the Gilbert W. Winslow Career Development Assistant Professor in MIT’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society, and the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems. She studies machine learning and urban systems. Her research focuses on the computational challenges surrounding the integration of autonomy into society. She has received numerous fellowships and awards, including a first place Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers dissertation award and a best paper award for her work on connecting clustering algorithms to ridesharing. She earned a BS and MEng from MIT, and a PhD from University of California, Berkeley.
